MEREDITH HENEGHAN

Writing + Fundraising + Communications

With writing experience including nonprofit museum communications, community magazine features, and technical financial manuscripts, Meredith has found that the best way to develop any story is by connecting with people. At AmplifyDMC, she aims to act as a conduit, using her writing to increase understanding and impact through compelling storytelling.

Building relationships is a core value of Meredith’s—made clear by her easy conversations with coworkers, often reduced to laughter and commiseration—and her writing has the most impact when it’s rooted in personal, historical, or cultural context. At Amplify, this means curating a dynamic story, whether it’s about the impact of a youth development nonprofit, a profile on an artist with American Craft Council, or introducing a communications toolkit for Minnesota Association of Workforce Boards. No matter what, it all starts with curiosity, friendliness, and a commitment to understanding.

Meredith previously spent five years at Minnesota Museum of American Art, rising from Communications Assistant to Grant Writer, and in the meantime doing everything in between. While learning about regionally meaningful artists, particularly those who are historically underrepresented in American art museums, and working in one of Cass Gilbert’s St. Paul masterpieces (the Pioneer Endicott Building), Meredith made connections and developed a deeper appreciation of the city and state she’s called home since 2012.

Ask the Ampster: Can you share a memorable volunteering or fundraising experience you’ve had?

Since 2018, I have volunteered at Sholom Hospice in St. Paul as a bedside companion, befriending and spending time with people who are dying. I care a lot about improving our collective mindset about aging, death, and dying, and I also just love old people, with a special affection for and skill of connecting with those who have dementia and memory loss.
