Beth Johnson

Design + Creative Direction + Brand Management

Beth's role on our team draws on a life-long love of art and tinkering. Put another way, you could say she “lives by design.” This aesthetic sensibility took formal shape during Beth’s time at Minneapolis College of Art & Design (MCAD), where she studied graphic design and advertising.

Linking MCAD’s academic learnings with her passion for artfully designed everything, Beth went on to become a multi-disciplinary designer, bringing more than 15 years of experience designing websites, social media campaigns, print newsletters, and more to AmplifyDMC. (A fun example: Beth did the original branding for Saint Paul restaurant Hyacinth.)

Embracing Beth’s philosophy that good design can play a role in all things AmplifyDMC, the rest of the team has looked to her to beautify all manner of client projects, from “Big Asks” to one-pagers to appeal letters, annual reports, digital presentations, and more. She’s also refreshed our own look as we aim to “Amplify AmplifyDMC” online and on social media.

A key to Beth’s approach is grounding conversations with clients in tangible design principles, cutting through the challenges that sometimes come with graphic design projects—namely that design is a mainly subjective matter. This helps clients put their best foot forward, projecting an image that reinforces their brand and lets their mission shine as they seek funding and engage the community.

Ask the Ampster: Can you share a memorable volunteering or fundraising experience you’ve had?

My time volunteering with my neighborhood organization has been especially meaningful. Myself, my partner, and two of our neighbors are block captains. We help spread the word about important neighborhood events and organize our annual block party encouraging our neighbors to connect and stay in touch. My partner and I also regularly volunteer at events helping raise awareness of how our neighborhood organization serves the community.
